The National Identity Management Commission has announced that Nigerians can now correct their dates of birth themselves.

NIMC made this new update known through their social media platforms.

The National Identification Number (NIN) is what the Nigerian government uses to establish the identity of every Nigerian citizen.

The NIN consists of 11 non-intelligible numbers randomly chosen and assigned to individuals upon completion of their enrollment in the National Identity Database (NIDB).

Date of Birth Self-Service Modification steps for NIN

After a person has enrolled and received their NIN, both minors and adults can update their details for their NIN.

Details such as names, dates of birth, addresses, etc. can be modified. However, the date of birth can only be corrected once.

Anyone who wants to correct their date of birth for their NIN can do so online through  NIMC self-service NIN modification website.

Once you open the website, the next step is to follow these steps:

  • To get started, you’ll need to verify your NIN and log in. Once on your dashboard, select the date of birth modification option. Proceed to complete the payment for the modification securely via Paystack
  • After payment, input your NPC certificate number and validate it. Your date of birth will be automatically filled and non-editable. If you’ve misplaced your birth certificate, you can do the birth attestation online at http://nationalpopulation.org.ng.
  • Upload your NPC certificate along with any required supporting documents. Submit your modification request and preview the adjustments. Make sure to check the attestation box before submitting your request.
  • Promptly collect your modification transaction slip from the modification table. Once approved, you’ll receive a notification, and your NIN slip will be sent to your email. You’ll also have the option to print the slip directly from your dashboard.

With your device, you can conveniently perform your NIN modification through the self-service feature on their website anytime and anywhere.

How much to correct Date of birth for NIN?

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced that Nigerians who wish to correct their date of birth on their National Identification Number will need to pay N16,340.

To change the name, it will cost N1,522.50, for the address, it will also be N1,522.50, and for the email, the fee is N1,522.50.
