Blackface accuses Shallipopi of allegedly stealing his song.
  • Renowned Nigerian singer, Blackface, has accused his colleague, Shallipopi, of intellectual property theft.
  • Former Plantashun Boiz member, Blackface, alleges that Shallipopi used his song ‘Enemy Plan’ in his debut album ‘Shakepopi’ without his consent.
  • Blackface took to Instagram, posting a video questioning if Nigerian artists can’t sing without copying his sound or melody.

Veteran Nigerian musician Augustine Obiabo Amedu, well known by his stage name Blackface, accused Shallipopi, a colleague, of intellectual property theft .

The former members of Plantashun Boiz asserted that Shallipopi sampled his song “Enemy Plan” without his consent for his recently released debut album “Shakepopi.”

On Sunday, Blackface posted a video on his Instagram page asking whether Nigerian singers couldn’t sing without imitating his sound or melody.

He wrote in pidgin, “Una mean say if them no copy my sound or my melody them no go get song to sing? Ok I don make remix for una so make una better abandon this una project.”

Shallipopi is yet to respond to the claim.
