Bode George labels Yoruba Nation agitators' invasion of Oyo Assembly as an act of treason.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Bode George, characterized the invasion of the Oyo State House of Assembly complex by Yoruba Nation agitators as an act of treason during an interview on Arise Television on Monday.

The PDP stalwart emphasized that the agitators cannot resort to taking up arms against their government. He expressed his views during an interview, stating, “You don’t just go and take up arms against your government, it’s treason. That they encountered Amotekun and the police is one thing; if it were individuals from my former profession, they would have perceived them as adversaries and engaged them.”

Expressing his dismay, he continued, “I was thoroughly angered because that is not the appropriate approach to communicate with your government. What could have driven them to that? My inference is that they may lack education. Taking up arms against your own nation is unfathomable.”

He further criticized the use of weapons and charms during the invasion, stating, “It’s unacceptable, it’s a flagrant violation of the law of the land. You have the freedom of speech, which is the most rational way to address this issue.”

Reflecting on the security lapses, he remarked, “The issue is that this activity was not detected by the nation’s intelligence. The agitators were clad in military attire and armed, yet they encountered no impediments on their journey. This underscores the urgent necessity for state police, as if we were well-organized, they would not have been able to gather undetected.”
